Punjab National Bank (PNB) statement PDF to Tally

PNB isn't one of the banks bank2tally converts yet — and unlike most banks on our request list, this isn't just "we haven't gotten to it." PNB's statement layout is a genuinely different parsing problem from every bank we already support.

Why PNB is harder, specifically

Every other bank here reads columns by position. PNB's layout resists that.

bank2tally's parsers work by finding a statement's column header row, then reading every transaction line by where each value sits horizontally under that header — the same logic whether it's HDFC, SBI, or any of the 11 banks already supported. PNB statements put their columns in an order most other banks don't use — the withdrawal, deposit, and running balance print before the transaction narration, not after it. Open-source PNB parsers we've examined work around this with line-by-line regex pattern matching instead of column geometry — a genuinely different parsing strategy, not a configuration tweak to the approach bank2tally already uses for other banks. Building it properly means building (and testing) that second approach, not just adding a profile the way Yes Bank or IDFC FIRST Bank were added.

Ask for it

Tell us you need PNB

Every request is logged the same way a failed upload is — it's exactly how HDFC, SBI, ICICI, Axis, Kotak, BOB, Union Bank, Canara, Yes Bank, IDFC FIRST and IndusInd went from "not supported" to real parsers. If you can also share a real PNB statement (redact account numbers and names — only the column layout and header row matter), that's what turns this from "probable" to "verified" fastest. Leave your email and we'll let you know when it's ready (optional — the request alone still counts).

Questions

Is PNB (Punjab National Bank) supported by bank2tally yet?

Not yet. HDFC Bank, State Bank of India, ICICI Bank, Axis Bank, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Bank of Baroda, Union Bank of India, Canara Bank, Yes Bank, IDFC FIRST Bank and IndusInd Bank are supported today. PNB's statement layout uses a different column order than those banks, which needs a different parsing approach to support correctly.

Why is PNB specifically harder to support than other requested banks?

PNB prints its withdrawal, deposit, and balance columns before the transaction narration — the reverse of most banks' layout. Every parser bank2tally has today reads columns by position; PNB's real-world parsers instead use line-pattern matching, which is a different engine to build and test, not just a new column profile.

How do new banks get added to bank2tally?

From real demand: every request and every unsupported upload is logged. If you can also share a real (redacted) statement sample, that's what turns a request into a verified parser fastest.
