Password-protected PDFs
Most banks email statements as password-locked PDFs. You don't need to unlock or re-save the file first — bank2tally opens it with the password you provide, converts it to Tally XML, and keeps nothing.
How it works
Works on text-based PDFs from HDFC, SBI, ICICI, Axis and Kotak. Scanned or photographed statements aren't supported yet.
Questions
Yes. Enter the PDF's password when you convert and bank2tally opens it, reads the transactions, and returns Tally XML. The file and password are used in memory only and never stored.
It's set by your bank — commonly your PAN, customer ID, or date of birth in a specific format. Check the email your bank sent with the statement; it usually explains the password format.
